NY in Kyiv

It was rather nice in Kyiv during the holidays. On New Year Eve we visited the main Christmas tree of the city on Sofiyskaya Square. Square was decorated in European style with music, fancy lights and was full of happy people. There were also food shops with sausages, mulled wine and sweets for kids.

The only challenge we faced was to find a taxi. They are in high demand in general during the holidays, but to find one with two seats for kids was an impossible task.

On Jan 2 we went to another location: Kontraktova Square on Podol. There were much more entertainments for kids. So we spent entire day riding horse electric cars and ferry wheel, snapping photos, eating street food and drinking mulled wine.

The next adventure was to visit a children performance. I managed to find one in Russian in New Ukrainian Theater. The place was tiny but kids loved the performance and even 1 year old Danil was able to see entire 75 minutes show.

What is really good in Kyiv – is provides a wide range of entertainments, but you don’t need to spend much time in traffic jams like in Moscow.
