Navalny has just launched his another campain against Vladimir Putin. In his “5 steps” program he is demanding to pay each adult in Russia for 20 000 roubles (about 270 USD), to nullify utilities bill for all households and to spend about two trillions of roubles for small busyness support.
Well, I like Navalny very much. He got several wonderful ideas and did alone more to sink Putin’s regine than all other opposition leaders in total. But some of his campains are horrable. I do remember his demands to implement visas for former asian CIS counties like Tadzhikistan and Uzbekistan. May be is was a decent idea, but not even in the ten top things we needed at that time.
His new proposals are lucrative, there are no doubts about it. And they well designed to gain new supporters and draw attention to his fugure. But in reallity that would make him much more damage in a long run. Common people are not reading his blog to be aware about this campain, but for the most of his supporters, it just a set of populist ideas. And as a result he could rise his popularity among “working class” from Uralvagonzavod but loose the support of prominent figures like Guriev.
I do belive that goverment should do much better in supporting busyness, but it is not about spreading the money from the helicopter in order to support collapsing economy. We just don’t have so much resources as the US or European Union
