The second season of the most interesting (IMHO) channel in Russian YouTube vDud is over. I’ve seen everything and the following text is my observations. In comparison with the first season, there were more popular guests and sometimes it hurts the show due to the huge experience of media persons in avoiding hard questions.
The host was also changing his style through the season. There was only one swear word in an interview with popular journalist Vladimir Pozner. In comparison with early episodes with artists, it’s a huge drop. However, even now, in most interviews language could be inappropriate for the audience (be careful showing it to your Mum).
What is still the same – is interesting and straightforward questions and the way in which interviews are going on.
I think the best interviews in this season were with
- Parfenov – incredible journalist, who’s banned from TV. But he is still doing a lot revealing Russian history of Soviet time
- Pal – I had no idea who is this guy before this episode. And I really love it because of the nice job the host. He made conversation in a very sincere manner.
- Neuromonakh Feofan – another person that was introduced to me by this show. Very interesting guest and thoughtful discussion
And the worst episodes of this season (guests were obviously invited to promote the show, but interviews were very bad):
- Gnoyniy
- Zhirinovsky
- Sobchak
Regarding the first season’s best episodes, my choice is:
- Fadeev -outstanding producer and interesting guest
- Navalny – very talkative politician, who is doing an excellent job delivering his agenda to all walks of life (including Dud’s audience)
- Tinkov – an entrepreneur with weird views who make his business in all imaginable areas, from brewery and home device retail to online banking and sports team management.
