BG in Dresden

I remember back in school, I often borrowed books and CDs with music from my classmates. In 7th grade, one of those CDs was the Navigator album by BG. At that time, there was no Spotify to suggest similar music after the album ended, so I listened to this Boris Grebenshikov album about fifty times. Since then, I have been following his music and can say it has become better and better every year.

Of course, his position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine was very important to me. Not many artists condemned it so clearly and so strongly. His two latest albums are full of sadness about the destruction our country is responsible for, and full of anger toward the leaders who started all this madness.

So you can imagine how surprised I was to find out that he is going to give three concerts in Germany – and one of them in Dresden! I bought a ticket immediately, and yesterday I finally enjoyed the concert.

The concert hall was small and cozy. It was unusual to hear so much Russian speech around me, and I waited for the beginning with great excitement. The concert started almost on time and lasted an outstanding two and a half hours, not counting the break in the middle.

The sound was perfect. I enjoyed the music during the slow and lyrical songs and even had a chance to dance and absorb the energy of his hits. To my delight, he sang not only the new songs I like (Bog Zimogorov), but also the classics (Goluboy Ogonyok, Rock-n-Roll Mertv).

Overall, I am very satisfied with the concert: the duration, the sound, the setlist, and the atmosphere – everything was perfect. The only thing I can wish for is good health for BG and the chance to hear a new album soon.

Of course, the photos from the dark concert hall taken with my phone are terrible, but I’m attaching a couple anyway.
