I was a big fan of google for a long time. There was my first and currently is a primary mail address. I bought movies, music, and books in their Play store. But the way they are dealing with their services is horrible.
The first blow to my perception of this company came when they closed Google plus blog service. I had a lot of posts there and some data is surely lost. After this, I started a self-hosted blog, and for sure that it’s much better than you are the only person who could set the rules.
But then I just lost only time and some data. Afterwards, when they closed Google Music I also lost lots of money. I bought about 30 gigabites music in their store. The most importand for me was that I could download music on my phone and listen it in the subway or on the road trip between cities where is no internet awailable.
And what they did? They introduced Youtube Music service, and it’s really easy to move the library from Google Music to Youtube Music. But to be able to listen there offline you need to buy a subscription! That is really awesome, I paid full price only go get a playlist. And now they want more money to allow me to get my own content.
Luckily, self hosted music servers are awailable in a great variety. I chose Ampache system with a handy android app. Now, I could manage my music on my own and had assess to it both online and offline.
Now I have my own blog (worldpress), music (Ampache) photo (Priwgo) and mail servers. I think I thought my lessons dealing with corporations regarding to personal data
