When I was a student me and my friends went to a rock concert. One of them was heavily drunk and very soon found himself in the conflict with other guy who had his own friends. My friend was not right and I tried to persuade the other party that my friend is too drunk to take him seriously and we’d better go home. However my other friends were telling me we should support our friend even he was not right, and we should go outside and fight with other guys. It was very strange to me. Luckily that day the other guys got my point and everything ended well.
Unfortunately this story reappeared in my life. Old dictator, who lost the sense of reality attached Ukraine tree months ago. In a bloody war tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians have already dead. Millions lost their homes or left their country. Every day I am seeing this tiered women with kids on the playgrounds who were forced to leave their country because of the war. And very soon tens of millions of people across the world would suffer economical consequences of war.
Obviously Putin is not right to say the least. I understand that it is hard to condemn him leaving in Russia now. You could find yourself without a job or even in prison. But I know too much people who is openly support his actions because “he is one of us”. Same rationale as I heard a decade ago in a small concert hall. People have this line in their mind separating the entire world for “us” and “them”. And now most Russians are supporting this war because this division.
