Free access to Litres

I am reading nonfiction only in English. This way have many advantages:

  • you don’t need to wait for a Russian edition translation
  • you are reading in author own language
  • it is much more books in English

The best place to get them is Amazon. Their wireless delivery to Kindle devices is marvelous. And in case you don’t know the word – it is a simpla way to get definition in one click on e-reader.

However, you need to to read Russian fiction from time to time to be in line with your colleagues and friends.

Pelevin’s and Akunin’s novels, for example, are not just another stories, but numerous mems and a bunch of characters that became part of our daily life. I this case I was going to Litres library to buy there russian books.

It turned out that you can read books there for free and absolutly legal. Some public libraries provide their clients accounts on litres site, where they could borrow for two weeks both e-books and audio books. Of course, there are some limitations to read in such way:

  • every library have sertain copies to lend. so it book is in high demand – you need to wait until other person return it’s copy. I tried to borrow several bestsellers and there were enouth copies of them.
  • you cannot copy e-book, only to read it in your browser, or litres app. So you could not use your e-reader for reading or highlite a certain place in a book

Usualy you need to visit library in person to get access to litres for free content. But now, due to all this coronavirus stuff, some libraries allow online registration. I got my account at Mayakovsky library in Saint Petersburg ( https://pl.spb.ru/ )and thay ussued my login and password. I think it is not very convinient way to read, but if you don’t mind to dead in your phone and save 10-15$ it’s a wonderful option fot you
