Elections in Germany

Since spring lamp posts in Germany became the main wearpon in ellection campain in European Parliament. Every single post had at least 1 poster, however at a crowded areas they were covered from the ground till the end of straight portion. And in July election was over and these posters started disappear. For one week we enjoyed clear view, but in the middle on July started campain for election in Saxony Parliament (Landtag). And our belowed posters returned.

For me it is a great source of new words. Today, for example I’ve learned a word “bezahlbares” – affordable. It is also interesting to read the history of german parties. I was astonished to know that SPD was founded in 1863. At first I thought about missprint, but no – they started when Germany was an empire, went through both world wars, witnessed germany occupation and now Sholz, the member of this party, is leading the nation.

For russian politics it is incredible life span. But as a foreigner I was only watching canpain as a spectator. Can you imagine my surprise when I got a mail with bailout.

It turned out that local parliament has a Council for Foreigners. This Council took part in discussions relating intergation, imigration and so on. And they can also prepare bills and demand voting for them. Election to the council is held by post. As an election observer I have some questions to confidentiality of voting, but overall process looks good. Maybe on next election I will know German better and can observe counting.

On Boeing there were a lot of talks about inclusion culture and other abstract things, but here I witnessed inclusion by myself and think it is a very good path for social peace and sence of fairness in the community.
