Forming the Konjunktiv II is essentially an adaptation of the Präteritum.
Irregular verbs use the stem of their imperfect (Präteritum) tense conjugation, but gain an umlaut (ä, ö, ü) and an “-e” if needed (first and third person singular). You can form the Konjunktiv II of any verb, but the forms ich wäre (sein) and ich hätte (haben) are used particularly often.

With other verbs, we usually use the verb "werden" in the Konjunktiv II and the infinitive.
Sie würde in den Park gehen, wenn das Wetter besser wäre.
