Futur I (Future Tense I)

Function

• Expresses actions or events in the **future**.
• Can also be used for **assumptions or predictions** about the present or future.

Formation

• Futur I = werden (conjugated) + infinitive of the main verb.

Word Order

• In main clauses: the conjugated form of werden is in **second position**, the infinitive goes to the **end** of the clause.
  • Morgen werde ich nach Berlin fahren.
• In subordinate clauses: werden goes to the **end**, and the infinitive stands **just before it**.
  • Ich glaube, dass er morgen nach Berlin fahren wird.

• er/sie/es wird

• sie/Sie werden

Structure

• Subject + werden (conjugated) + ... + Infinitive (at the end)

Examples

• Morgen werde ich nach Berlin fahren.
• Sie werden bald Eltern sein.
• Wir werden das Problem lösen.

Usage

• To describe future plans or intentions:
  • Ich werde dich morgen anrufen.
• To make assumptions about the present or future:
  • Er wird jetzt wohl im Büro sein. (= He’s probably at the office now.)

Position in the Sentence

• Main clause: [Subject] + [werden, 2nd position] + ... + [Infinitive at the end]
• Subordinate clause: [Conjunction + Subject + ... + Infinitive + werden]
• Examples:
  • Ich weiß, dass er morgen nach Hause kommen wird.
  • Wenn du lernst, wirst du die Prüfung bestehen.
